GHOSTS MEDIA presents
Animals are hidden within the shadows of our highly mechanized world
A cross-platform documentary by social issue filmmaker Liz Marshall, featuring animal rights photographer Jo-Anne McArthur. Produced by Nina Beveridge and Liz Marshall for documentary.
THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE – DOCUMENTARY is a cinematic feature length film that seeks to illuminate the lives of individual animals living within the machine of our modern world. Through the heart and photographic lens of protagonist Jo-Anne McArthur we become intimately familiar with a small cast of non-human characters. The film shines a light on healing bonds between non-human animals and the humans working on their behalf. Voices of industry professionals provide narrative context about non-specific globalized industries in consumer demand, that are pervasive and undergoing reform.
THE GHOSTS IN OUR MACHINE – INTERACTIVE is a community-centered online environment which will unfold over the lifespan of the project. A flash-based immersive story will be prominently featured, created by Interactive Art Directors The Goggles (This is Pine Point; Adbusters). It will provide a full screen interactive experience that follows film director Liz Marshall and the main subject of the film Jo-Anne McArthur on a journey of discovery through the complex questions and issues of animal rights.
The moral question is posed: Are animals property to be owned and used by humans, or are they sentient beings deserving of rights?
