Hop To It

Hop To It Productions Inc. was founded in 2006 by President Susan Nation and CEO Nina Beveridge to produce multi-platform projects with strong international appeal and merchandising potential. Our content is relevant and unique with shows that empower and entertain, and engaging interactive content. Our programming promotes diversity, active healthy living and strong female roles.

Nina and Susie’s collaboration began after they met at the Banff TV Festival. Combining Nina and Beevision partner Paul Hart’s technical, project management and design expertise with Susie’s impressive marketing vision and skills seemed like a win-win formula! Hop To It is owned 50% by Beevision and 50% by Pink Rabbit Productions/Susan Nation. Our early collaboration spawned two Bell Fund supported projects including “Hip Hop in the T-Dot”, and “Sophie’s Kids Camp”. Both these projects featured innovative web sites with games and experimental forms of interactive storytelling. “Hip Hop in the T-Dot” was an instructional dance and news magazine series with an innovative web site, airing on the Rogers Network. “Big Grin’s House Party” is a beautifully designed and highly entertaining preschool kid’s web site designed to teach tots literacy, nutrition and dance in a very fun way.

In 2006 Susie and Nina were Round One Winners of Telefilm’s Great Canadian Video Game Fund for their multiplatform game ‘Create A Date’. After being re-fashioned as “Cupid’s Café”, the project won Nina and Susie a scholarship to the Banff Interactive Project Lab, a pitch slot at the Vancouver Fusion Forum, an ipitch slot at the Banff TV Festival and a slot in the Ontario Showcase featuring innovative Ontario talent in the 2008 ICE Conference in Toronto. The Cupid’s Café online experience includes ‘Lovemania’, the most recent application of Hop To It’s proprietary mashup software S-MasH™ powered by proprietary Flex sequencer S4Tek™.

Susie and Nina then co produced and Paul directed 2 seasons of “Pop It!”, a dance-along kids series and web site on TVO and NICK Australia. Pop It! also features an innovative playful website called www.popittv.com, hosted on the TVO Kids website. In 2009 “Pop It!” was nominated for a Gemini award for Best Cross Platform Production, and was nominated for 2 ACT Awards including Best Cross Platform Production and Best Interstitial.

In 2008-9 Susie and Nina co produced and Nina directed a POV documentary called “Suck It Up Princess” for OMNI. The film was labour of love for our team and explores the topic of living with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy through the eyes of Renee Rodrigues, a dynamic young woman we originally met at a charity in 2003. Renee put up with us for the better part of a year while we crafted this film about her life.

With Hop To It, Susie and Nina have attended many TV and interactive markets including MIPCOM, Banff, Kidscreen, Realscreen, Interactive Ontario conferences, Next Media and other events.
