Documentary on the introduction of India’s Community Development Program, part of the government’s Five Year Plan to raise living standards and expand industry. Dramatization show how one village is persuaded to adopt the innovations of the new scheme. Major social improvements are brought about by the program’s Five point plan. Community co—operation is fostered in areas of agriculture, education, and road construction. Modern medicine replaces primitive methods and witch—doctors; animals are inoculated against disease; water is brought to the village through new tube wells; radio brings news of the outside world; and floods and water damage caused by the monsoon rains are alleviated by engineering skills and the construction of irrigation canals.
