Film shows the signs of drought all over India before the rains break and the preparations taken to maintain life during the rainy season. Sequences of not include; camel—drawn ploughs; rain beating down on the parched earth and the aftermath of the rain, as children and buffalo bathe in swollen rivers; preparation of rice paddies in Bihar Region; festivals celebrating the new season; ceremonial worship and thanksgiving for the first rice harvest; flood—damaged areas. Modern projects harnessing the waters (dams, reservoirs, canals and irrigation schemes) show the government’s efforts to bring nature and man into closer harmony.
