Documentary on the resettlement of Northern India after Independence. A narrated dramatization tells the story of how one refugee family adapted to a new environment and changed circumstances. Positive aspects of the social upheaval are stressed as film shows how farming methods are improved: modern implements replace outdated farming techniques; tractors replace ox—ploughs; and training facilities and bank loans are made available to the peasant farmers.
